Default What are you buying this month (January 2023)?

New month, new year, new resolution to limit MRR purchases ... And Moose has already blown the budget for the quarter...

Moose renewed NMRA membership. Also added Mrs. Moose to the membership, so she can drive Moose home after all the wild and crazy NMRA clinics...

Since some of us contributed to your delinquency, we want to see photos of that new 0-6-0.

While I have not bought anything (yet), I did decide to keep those Bev-Bel/Life Like 50' box cars and I will be purchasing some boxcar brown paint to redo them.

    Two things:
    1. How do you know Moose is getting a 0-6-0?
    2. Clearly, you don't know Moose very well ... If Moose no post photos, then world has come to an end...

In the spirit of Getting Things Done, I ordered one Faller Car System chassis https://www.faller.de/en/car-system/...-n-bus-n-lorry to stop worrying how to build it myself

Let's see how that chassis fits Kato and Trainworx tractors and if I can manage to make a ten wheeler with horizontal motor out of it, even though they say it's not possible. I will have to add some electronics, though...

The assorted Kato unitrack pieces I ordered December 8 arrived to replace the missing package contents arrived by mail today. As it turns out, I'm going to need a few of the new items despite the missing package turning up. I've used all 97 usable lengths of track already from that shipment. I also went to the LHS this morning and picked up the 2 LH turnouts needed for the third staging track. While there, I also picked up 2 more RH turnouts for two additional industries and a couple of bridges to add a water feature. So much for no purchasing in 2023.

Hey guys. I know I haven't been on here in a VERY long time. I always tried but was always too busy. Finally a weird thing got me back to enjoying the hobby again. I had our basement glass windows changed to glass blocks and these idiots messed up our whole basement with dust. They told us that they will be cutting the windows form the outside and they said we don't need to cover anything. I usually have my layout covered but they assured me there would be no dust. So I left it uncovered. BIG mistake. Luckily I had no motive power on the layout and it was actually fun to clean. It got me running some trains again after I cleaned and also my little girl is starting to like the hobby. She got me to get the Christmas cars. Funny I can't get my son to enjoy it with me. So I thought I wanted a few things while I cleaned and we ran some train. So here are a few things I got that I still wanted but never got around to getting them till now.

I started the New Year with a book purchase. I love finding books about the smaller regional railroads and this one looks like it will be interesting. I know almost nothing about Atlanta, Birmingham & Coast.

I bought some scale stripwood, not really because I have a project in mind for it, but because it was cheap on ebay, until someone bid it up at the last moment. Still way cheaper than it would be if I bought it new.

New years resolution was I was going to get all my rolling stock out of the shoe boxes I had been storing them in and organized. I bought 2 of these 6 drawer carts that fit nicely under the layout, it looks like I should have bought at least a third one. I didn't realize I had bought so many wood side reefers, more than even the boxcars. Now everything is organized by type.

Office Depot got my money this time. I would much rather have gone to Papa Ben's for some more rolling stock but I would have needed some more shoe boxes.

Sometimes it is hard to prevent getting more than one car withe the same road numbers. I went through that years ago while buying 40' USAX boxcars and 50' troop sleeper cars.

Just delivered today after some holiday hobby funds came to be, plus it was on sale which was even better.
Scale Trains rivet counter with DCC with sound, ET44 Gevo. It even has rear ditch lights, a first for me on my layout.

I plan to buy more wood for benchwork and subroadbed. I already used up three sheets of 30'x60" 1/2" for a double track helix. I need to rip the two 3/4" sheets for legs and supports.
