Project 32x60 - The Evans and Zeiglerville Display Layout

Well the Wifey(mother to my adult children) will be happy with an order for delivery in late afternoon dinner. She doesn't gain conciencenence until about 1pm most weekends, so I can go shopping in the am. For what, I don......wait. Maybe I do know. Hah, roadbed material at hobby lobby for my staging area. Once I get the foam glued I can begin framing the lower level yard. That would be nice progress for me. My hopes is to turn the corner on both levels into the free standing sections ASAP.

No work on the layout, but Randy Stahl brought over his amazing Milwaukee Road ore train for a trial run on my N-scale Housatonic RR layout today. He body mounted Microtrains Truescale couplers, with mounts from Shapeways, FVM and ESM metal low profile wheels and Hay Bros. loads. Every car is decaled, has non repeating road numbers and was was nicely weathered. We ran an ore train with 150 cars that stretched over 22 feet. No slinky effect whatsoever. Here is a quick video. I'll post more info in my layout thread later. This is on code 55 track and all low profile wheels. They were so free-rolling, I was even able to pull the entire consist with one GP9 later on!

It was an amazingly well done unit train!

Took the old Lumber, Gravel and Grain project out of temporary storage and placed in my temporary workshop (the guest bedroom). I cleaned up the track with some alcohol swabs, tested out some engines and rolling stock for a bit, then smoothed things out where required before finally glueing the track in place. Feels like a huge step as I've never actually glued track to a layout before. Used "No More Nails" to glue Kato Unitrack to a painted sheet of pink foam. Here are some pics of my test runs as well as the canned goods and weights that are holding things down until everything solidifies. Fingers crossed that everything stays where it should.
