    Post Fairbanks Morse H10-44

What would it take to get Atlas to actually produce some FM-H10-44 loco’s? They already have the mechanism that would work..The VO-1000 mechanism is what is being used to fit the shapeways shell. They have them for HO. It’s time they make them for N Scale.

It would take an N scale market willing to purchase several thousand of them. I don't think their H24-66 (Train Master) from 20 or so years ago was a big hit, so that's probably influencing Atlas's decision-making. FMs just aren't as popular with modelers as EMDs, Alcos, and GEs.

It would be nice to have the H10-44 or H12-44 readily available. And the FM locomotives fit right in for those modeling the 1940 to 1960 era.

Atlas still lists the FM H24-66 Train Master on their website for preorder https://shop.atlasrr.com/c-748-n82.aspx. They list 7 road names in the Master Silver and Master Gold. And you can occasionally find the Atlas H24-66 in stock on fleabay and retailer websites.

Well, my mistake, I missed the memo on the Atlas preorder. Glad they're going to take another swing at the Train Master.

The real trainmaster wasn't exactly a hot seller either.

Gents, don't forget Atlas has H15/16-44 with the green/red color marker lights. Now with sound: https://archive.atlasrr.com/NLoco/arc-nh151644.htm

It looks like some road names are sold out and others are preorder for the H15-44 and H15/16-44 https://shop.atlasrr.com/c-759-n92.aspx

Its rough growing young isn't it? And don't worry I forget stuff too.

I had to look up the info on the Atlas H15-44. The only reason I knew that Atlas still lists the H24-66 is because I was looking at using one as a possible substitute for a MRS-1 locomotive.

Back to the original post............Atlas (and several other manufacturers) hasn't really come out with any new locos for quite a while, just new paint on existing models..........At this point, it would be more likely that BLI might do an H10-44. They seem to be willing to take a shot at empty spots in the market. For as many FM switchers that were out there, you'd think someone would have done one by now (excluding the old Minitrix one). I'd certainly but a couple in Milwaukee paint.

I agree that we would probably have abetter chance of BLI releasing a H10-44 before anyone else does. Until then the only option seems to be the H10-44 shell from Shapeway and the Atlas VO-1000

I'd be in for four H10/12-44 units: two Milwaukee and one each Chicago & North Western and Soo Line.

Shapeway is the only option for a H10-44 or H12-44 at this time. Both shells fit the Atlas VO-1000

Not any longer the way it seems?
While it's not a complete loco, it's more of a kit similar to what Shapeways is offering.

Just announced at the Reno convention:
Wheels of Time is offering a 3D printed kit of the early FM H12-44 (Phase 1) DIY kit for 5 railroad specific variations.

It's always good to have more options. I don't know how many USAX locos I want but I might end up getting one of the kits for a H12-44 since the Army did use them.

Nice....although it doesn't look like they are including railings, or making them so some available railings will fit. At least it's a move in the right direction, and no worse than the shapeways options. edit: looking closer at the photos of the Milwaukee Road version, it does appear there are holes in the casting for railings........possibly the VO1000 railings?

"DIY Kit includes highly detailed and prototype specific locomotive shell with walkways, realistic looking fuel-air tanks, and laser cut cab windows. You need: Atlas' VO-1000 switcher mechanism, 15" BLMA-Atlas grab drop grab irons, .010" diameter rod such as from Tichy Train, glue, primer, paint, decal and your creative energy!"
