So far I bought three 4x8 pieces of cabinet grade plywood. One 3/4" ripped lengthwise for framework. Most will be 4" wide for benchwork framing or 2-1/2" for legs. The other two are 1/2" subroadbed, each cut in half. One lengthwise the other cross. This should keep me busy for a few weekends.

    Ditto!

Spending most of my time being chauffeur and pit crew for my wife and her horse. They are doing Endurance Racing, courses of 25 to 30 miles. They are doing well. Of the 4 races they have done, a 1st and a 2nd.

This is going to be an expensive month. Picked up 30 NARC Canpotex potash cars. 12 PTEX, 6 CITX and 12 CEFX. I've been saving up for these for 4 years. This is 20% of the prototype which run 150 cars. In 2010 (my era), these were the reporting marks running through Sapperton. I have video from the time period which will help for weathering.

They are nice cars with body mount couplers, etched roof walks and metal wheel sets.

Next up are a pair of reindeer and an elk.

    DSCN2574.jpg

As GMM items are no longer being produced, I took advantage of these still being available.

Finally, I purchased the latest Micro-Trains BN weathered hopper set.

    Nice haul!
Was not aware GMM is out of business? Don't see that on their site.

Loren seams to have had a change of heart. He announced last year he was retiring and closing up shop June 2022. Good to see he is keeping the RR etchings. I have a lot of GMM detail parts I use. He sold off his ship etchings portion by the sounds of it and maybe couldn't find a buyer for the RR side of the business. I see his prices have increased by 25-30% as of May 1, 2023. Thanks @donzi.

Now I’m gunna go check my stash and maybe make an order just in case he changes his mind again.
    Thanks Grant

From eBay- Life-Like Amtrak E8, destined to become a powered E6B unit
From MbE – Bells, Tender Steps, and more Marker lights
From Lombard Hobbies – Kato 4-8-8-4 Big Boy, it’s crawling on the first lap. Very nice lokie to look at and runs quiet and smooth with no waddling. Also comes with extra double heading pilot. The meter is not sensitive enough to read at the slowest speed it will go, it will read down to .44v but does not show any amps that low. You can barely see it moving there. I'll never run it that slow.
Tightest radius on that test track is 11¼ and no problems at any speed forward or reverse.
Still waiting on my dotnet decals and shirt and some couplers from the LHS.

donzi, those detail parts are tiny. I've done some windshield wipers and grab irons, but will likely be my limit.

Can you give me the length of the Big Boy engine both with and without tender? I have one on order but don't yet have it. Thanks.

My calipers are only 6 in. so the best I could measure using Starrett 12 in. steel rule
From tip of pilot to rear of cab roof 6.620
    Tender frame 3.310
Coupled together from tip of pilot to rear of tender 9.820
And tip of pilot to end of tender coupler 9.980

After about 30 min worth of laps forward and backward it now takes about 4 sec to travel one tie width running light.

I really need to stay away from fleabay, especially when sellers send me an offer of 10% off then I counter with 15% off and they accept my counteroffer. I picked up an old Atlas/Kato N&W GP35, Altas Wabash GP7, and an Atlas N&W FM H24-66 Trainmaster. All three will have to be converted to DCC. I will most Riley use TCS CN/CN-GP decoders in the GP7 and GP35 since they both have split boards and not much room for anything. I might splurge on an ESU Loksound decoder for the H24-66, I haven't decided yet though.

I definitely have enough locos (for now) since I also pre-ordered an Atlas N&W Gold GP38, Piko DCC USAX Whitcomb 65 ton switcher, and a Christmas theme BLI 4-6-2. But who knows when those will come in since all three are pre orders.

Anyway, here are the photos of the GP7, GP35, and H24-66
