Very, very sad. A lot of my layout came from M.B. Klein.

@donzi, did you get your stuff? Because now this is on their home page.

    Customer Notice

We have stopped accepting orders, pending a company reorganization.
Customer service agents are still available to handle order queries.

We will provide more information as soon as it is available.

They have changed the status of every item to "Out Of Stock" to prevent ordering.

    Bummer!

"Company reorganization" sounds better than "going out of business". Let's hope it means the business will survive.

Yikes! At first I thought this was for the Hatton's website, but the American English spelling of "reorganization" was a tell-tale sign this was for MTS. Then I went to the site. Ack...Well, at least there are some excellent alternatives to The Online Hobby Shop Formerly Known as M.B. Klein, Inc.

Of course, this might just mean the business is now transitioning its base of operations from Maryland to Nebraska, but the fact that they're not being transparent about it at all is totally suspect. They could have totally spun it as, "We're moving to a new centralized warehouse to best serve you the customer!" - And of course us hardcore modelers would know that's total B.S., but at least they're making an effort.

Come to think of it, the fact that MTS has never publicly acknowledged its change of ownership is even more suspect. Most responsible businesses that have acknowledged ownership changes are not afraid to do this.

I received my BLI Duplex today that I ordered on the 8th.
It came FedEx rather than USPS from Nebraska.
Eight days and I paid extra for Priority delivery.

I’m miffed with the duration of the transaction, and I am not thrilled with the 4-4-4-4.
It has issues right out of the box, but that’s for another thread.
Not a happy camper with MBK or BLI.

Hatton's and MTS both gone within days one another, one dragging the other down, down into the icy depths.

Went to looking for a random Kato NS locomotive and was greeted by the "MTS will return." I wonder where we will find sub $100 Kato locomotives now?!

They also had a boatload of GS-4s in stock. I wonder where they went I'd gladly purchase a couple.

I'm getting "we'd like your feedback" emails from MBK I have one in my mailbox as I'm writing this. Sounds like they are trying to come back.

If some former MBK employees got together and bought the operation back from Hatton's, then I'll give 'em a chance. But if this is part of the whole Hatton's scheme/scam, forget it.

That's a Bot or service that hasn't been turned off. Did you purchase something from them recently? Perhaps their last hurrah sale? If so, that's why the feedback e-mails are coming your way. No rumors of any comeback anywhere, unfortunately.

Yes, I got an order from them just prior to the " we have ceased trading " message.........then nothing. Then got the "MBK will return" message, and then started getting the "feedback" messages. While it's possible it's not real, there's not much to be gained......it would be much more likely for the MBK is closing to be a scam than the other way around. And we know the closing is real. It may not be the Model Train Stuff we remember when/if it returns, and it may be that some 3rd party is buying the name and reopening using their own facilities and warehouse.
