I have the same quote in my signature. I didn’t know it was a quote from Carlin.

    Ah! Gotcha.
As far as I know it is, but don't know is it was his originally, but sounds like something he'd say.

    Default hello

hello I'm Christian from Bavaria. I am 37 years old. I am very interested in American trains and plan to build a model railway on the scale n. I registered here to find out more, because in Germany not so much information is available. Excuse me if I write something wrong, because my English is very bad. I have to work a lot with google translators.

    Bill,

Welcome to the Forums and to one of the most addictive, frustrating, infuriating, challenging, and FUN hobbies in the world. First Rule of the hobby as a new guy to it is ..."Ask LOTS of questions" - might save a little frustration (maybe). Second Rule of the hobby (here at least) keep us updated on what your doing, no matter what it is, with LOTS of pictures ... that'll become a bit clearer the longer your here

All in all though - enjoy the hobby and enjoy the forums

PS: Glad your ingenuous - now I'll have some company
    Cheers Tony

    @big bill

Moose bid you hearty welcome to the greatest wee n scale forum on the interweb!

Remember, there be rules here. Follow them and noone gets hurt. Don't follow them and, well, Moose'll have to 'round up the boys and go'a stampeding yer way. Now, you don't want that, do you. No, Moose thought not...

Now, far them thar rules, they kinda go like this:

    1. It's yer railroad, so do what ya want, regardless of what some fool here might have a mind ta tell ya.
    2. Post photos and post often.
    3. Beware the Reach Police, there everywhere!
    4. Have ya posted photos yet?
    5. If it cannot be done, Moose will try to do it anyway and then epic fail. Ummm, did Moose say that out loud. Forget you read that.
    6. Get ta posting photos, or it's moose stampede time there mister!
    7. Everybody here is yer friend, yes, even the English guy living in France who befriends fairies, Martians and who knows what else...
    8. Photos photos photos!
    9. Long written descriptions of your modelling exploits are nice.
    10. Reading is for morons that can't understand pictures!

    11. And remember, it's just a hobby...

P.S. You might have to rack up something like ten posts before the administrators will let you attach photos to your posts ... ... ... So get posting mister!

Second, errr, as equally important a rule as posting photos:

    12. Steam rules and disease'els drool . Long live steam!

Thanks for the welcome, [ ingenuous]Simple,Naive, candid. I'm late 70's tied to oxygen 24/7, with limited mobility, which I will not let slow me down.
This will be a great help in keeping me active. I am thinking a small 3x5' layout 30" high [because of my chair] to begin with.
