    Welcome Tom!

you may need to make a certain number of posts before you can post pix.

Here's how I do it from Flikr:
    open youor account in flikr,
    upload the pix to flickr
open a second browser window and open nSn
then copy the BB code of the pic and paste it into the post.
Also, you can resize the pix in flikr.

I use flikr so I don't use up space on nSn servers. the method above works if you use an album from nSn.

Welcome as well Tom. As for the picture posting, as Gene said, you probably need to make a certain number of posts before you can post pictures to start with. I think that number is 10, although maybe wrong.

I use a thing called Imgur, a free photo hosting site. Take a picture, put it on your PC, upload it to Imgur, Click on it and select For Forums (that copies the link code) then paste that code into your post. Easy, quick and cheap
    Cheers Tony

    Hi everyone

I'm new into N scale. When I was a kid, I had an HO layout that I worked on but never finished. Now that I have kids of my own, I've decided to get back into the hobby after 25 years away. My 3 year old daughter absolutely loves trains and runs to the windows anytime she hears one passing by, so naturally she's my little "helper". I'm still in the planning stages of my new layout and have made a few loco and rolling stock purchases when I find a good deal. I've learned quite a bit in the few days I've been lurking on this forum and look forward to being here more often.

Welcome! Great site and great people. There's a lot of info here, should keep you busy for quite some time. I will warn you tho, we have a Moose. Fairly nice fellow when you feed him pictures, gets a bit cranky when you don't. So, my advice, post pics.!

    Hey!

Just joined this morning and thought Iíd take a minute to say ďHiĒ and introduce myself.

I donít have a layout, nor have I ever, but have always wanted to build one. Iím reaching retirement age, so I figure itís time to get started! When I was in college, my dad had retired and started an N scale layout, unfortunely he and mom moved and passed shortly after so he never got very far with it. I have kept his old (aka early 80ís) locos, rolling stock, buildings, track, switches, power supply, etc; Iím not sure what shape they are in, but it could be a help in getting started.

Iím really not that much of a railway guy; at this point I couldnít tell you the difference between an F3 and a GP7, but I hope to learn. Iím more of a builder and modeler. Iíve done a lot of wood working, and over the last few years Iíve gotten back into building scale models. My degree (from many years ago) is in Computer and Systems Engineering, so I have some background in electronics and Iíve been a software developer since I graduated. Model railroading is a great melding of all my interests.

I suspect it will be sometime before I can start any build (the big road block is getting my son to move out...). In the meantime Iím researching, learning and planning and this site looks like a good resource. Iíll also be looking into a local club where I hope to get some valuable experience.

Anyway, Iíve droned on long enough... as Iím browsing the site and keeping up on new content, Iíll be sure to ask questions (and chime in with my $0.02 if appropriate).

    Thanks!
    Bob

Moose bid you hearty welcome to the greatest wee n scale forum on the interweb!

Hmmm, Moose feel need to tell you rules of forum, like "it's your layout, so do what you want," and "post photos and post often ." That's an important one. Oh, then there's the "reach rule," which concerns not building a layout so deep that you cannot reach the back side from the front. Yeah, you don't want to violate that rule, lest you get caught by the Reach Police. Oh, Moose no want to tell you what would happen if you don't post lots of photos -- very messy business if you don't... Any way, welcome aboard!

Now, Moose go back to sleep...
